OUR STORY

Mama of Joy Sensory Play was born from a deeply personal journey. Our daughter, Tenley, arrived into the world unexpectedly early at 28 weeks, weighing just 2 pounds, 1 ounce. Her early days were spent in the NICU, where we learned firsthand the unique needs and challenges that come with caring for a premature child. After her 100-day NICU stay, we continued learning how to support her, especially given the increased risk of sensory issues in preemies. Frequent visits from therapists provided us with valuable tools to help Tenley overcome sensory sensitivities and bridge her developmental milestones. Determined to support her growth, I began researching and creating sensory activities that would stimulate her senses. Crafting sensory bins became an integral part of her playtime, and we quickly saw the positive effects—her sensory issues started to fade. I realized that these sensory activities could benefit all children, not just those with sensory needs.
Inspired to share the benefits of sensory play with other families, I founded Mama of Joy Sensory Play. Here, you’ll find thoughtfully curated sensory bins designed to encourage children to explore, create, and learn through hands-on play. We’re passionate about helping families integrate sensory play into their lives, nurturing curiosity and development in every child.
